Next time Kerry is asked about the grades/Iraq nonsense, he should say this:
"I stand corrected. President Bush's case demonstrates quite clearly that you don't need good grades to stay out of combat."
He can't take this seriously. He has to mock it, or they win by putting Kerry on the defensive and changing the subject right before the election. This might not be the best one-liner, but I think it's pretty good.
The truth of the matter is that of course Bush doesn't speak for the troops- his outrage is completely manufactured. He has to somehow do Bush one better.
Maybe I'd go with this one:
"President Bush says I owe the troops an apology. I'd say he owes them a letter of resignation. He's let them down one too many times."
